The world which is already fighting an unseen virus, has also been challenged to fight the racist virus in many people’s mind that recently led to an inhuman act. The homicide of the African American George Floyd spread light that racism happens even today in this modern world where people are living in diversity. The Black Lives Matter movement has swept across the world; people all around have joined to fight for justice for George, under #blacklivesmatter. From age’s beauty pageants were also considered to have winners judged based on colorism, however last year making history, five black women were crowned the winners of the World’s top 5 pageant titles making it a triumphant year for black women within the pageant circuit.

Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi who was crowned on the 7th December 2019 was very vocal about the fact that she grew up in a world where a woman who was dark skinned was not considered beautiful. With winning the title she said, “That ends today. I want children to look at my face and see their own looking back at them.” During the question and answer round on being asked “What is the important thing that we should teach the young girls today?” The diva confidently said that she’d like to teach the young girl’s leadership. She explained that leadership is something that’s been lacking among young girls and women for a long time because of how society labels and sees them. She strongly believes that women are the strongest and powerful thing in this world and they should be taught to take up the leader as there is nothing more important than taking up space in society. The South African beauty won hearts before the title and her win was inevitable. The gorgeous beauty is now well known for her kind heart and hard work towards the society, even amid the pandemic as she made efforts to continue her reign through digital platforms.
